Dance can tell a story even when not a single word is spoken. This workshop explores how to make your movement speak to the audience and create a sense of story and narrative through performance.
Participants will explore different approaches to storytelling – from abstract and thematic ideas to more clearly defined narratives – and learn how to translate them into movement, musical interpretation, gestures, character and overall performance choices.
The workshop will encourage you to stop thinking of choreography simply as a sequence of dance steps and instead start thinking about what you are truly communicating through your dance. You will discover ways to create a performance that leaves the audience with a thought, an emotion or a story.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 31st, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
